Long sjambok (kiboko)
"Kiboko" means Hippopotamus, whose hide was used to make this vicious whip. Very long, 5.5 ft. Pictures show handle, transition zone and handle/tip compared. This is made of some incredibly thick (nearly 1 in), very strong hide. After 3ft of constant thick shaft the diameter gradually decreases in a tapered area downto 1/3 in. Estimated year of production: 1880. Due to abuse by authorities, the sjambok has a bad reputation. Note not the sjambok is evil but people who abuse it.
