Sjambok from Sambia

This sjambok was brought to Germany from a journey to Sambia (formerly Northern Rhodesia) as a souvenir in 1930. Like the foregoing one, this sjambok is carved from a single piece of extremely thick hide (hippo). It measures 4 2/3 ft, with a handle diameter of more than 1", tapering to 1/3" at the tip. See a man´s hand for size demonstration. The black spot at the end is a hole, burnt into the handle for attaching a wrist loop.
